Dedication
of St. Rocco Shrine
May 6, 2007
The historic St. Rocco statue was a gift to the people of St. James' from the
people of the former St. Rocco's Episcopal Church, Youngstown. A new space was
prepared for the statue, a set of votive candle racks, and a kneeler (also given
by St. Rocco's) and the space was dedicated on May 6, 2007.

St. Rocco (St.
Roch) was born of French nobility around 1285 and had a natural affinity for the
poor and the sick. While on a pilgrimage, he ministered to victims of The
Plague, curing many, thus becoming known as the patron saint of invalids and
pestilence. His feast day is August 16.
